How CRS Registration Works
Identify if your product needs CRS
Use the bischeck.in checker to look up your product name or HSN code. If your product falls under the 100 electronics products covered by CRS, you must register before selling in India.
Send samples to a BIS-recognized lab
Choose from 416 labs across India. Lab selection is critical, so pick a lab experienced with your product category. Testing takes 4-8 weeks depending on product complexity.
Receive test report
Once the lab confirms your product meets the applicable IS standard, you receive a formal test report. This is the key document for your BIS application.
Apply on BIS Manakonline portal
Submit the test report along with: manufacturer details, product technical specifications, brand/trademark registration, and authorization letter. Application fee: ₹1,000.
Receive CRS registration (R-number)
BIS reviews your application (2-4 weeks). Upon approval, you receive your unique R-number. Affix the Standard Mark and R-number on your product. You can now legally sell in India.
