How CRS Registration Works

1

Identify if your product needs CRS

Use bischeck.in checker | enter product name or HSN code. If your product falls under the 80+ electronics categories covered by CRS, you must register before selling in India.

2

Send samples to a BIS-recognized lab

Choose from 420+ labs across India. Lab selection is critical | pick a lab experienced with your product category. Testing takes 4-8 weeks depending on product complexity.

3

Receive test report

Once the lab confirms your product meets the applicable IS standard, you receive a formal test report. This is the key document for your BIS application.

4

Apply on BIS Manakonline portal

Submit the test report along with: manufacturer details, product technical specifications, brand/trademark registration, and authorization letter. Application fee: ₹1,000.

5

Receive CRS registration (R-number)

BIS reviews your application (2-4 weeks). Upon approval, you receive your unique R-number. Affix the Standard Mark and R-number on your product | you can now legally sell in India.
