Why bischeck.in Exists
India has 872 products under BIS regulation, and the government adds roughly 25-50 more every year through Quality Control Orders (QCOs). Active QCOs cover 851 of them. Most businesses find out they are affected the hard way: a shipment held at customs, an Amazon listing pulled, or a penalty notice.
The official BIS portal (www.manakonline.in) is slow to navigate. IS standards sit scattered across several government websites. Lab directories list names but not prices, and no official source publishes a cost estimate at all.
So we built the one lookup we kept wishing existed. Search your product and the answer comes back complete: whether BIS applies, under which scheme and standard, which labs can test it, and what the whole thing is likely to cost.
How Our Data Works
Every product, lab, and standard on bischeck.in is sourced from official government publications. We do not scrape, guess, or estimate without attribution.
Product Database
Sourced from the BIS Scheme-I and Scheme-II compulsory certification lists, cross-referenced against Gazette of India QCO notifications. Each product entry includes the exact IS standard, QCO number, cost range, and timeline as published by BIS.
Lab Directory
Sourced from the BIS-recognized laboratory list. Every lab entry includes BIS recognition status, contact details, city, and the product categories it tests.
IS Standards
Referenced from the BIS product manual database. Each standard is mapped to the products tested under it, the certification route those products take, the cost band recorded across them, and the labs recorded for it.
QCO Tracker
Monitored from Gazette of India notifications across DPIIT, MeitY, Ministry of Textiles, Department of Chemicals, and other ministries. Notifications on file run to 20 Jun 2026.
Data Freshness
We refresh this database directly from official BIS publications. Catalogue data was last verified against BIS sources in August 2026, and QCO notifications on file run to 20 Jun 2026. Every product page shows the IS standard number, QCO reference, and source attribution so you can verify the data yourself on bis.gov.in.
